Blown to Bits Apendix

1. It is interesting to think about the foresight (or luck?) that caused initial Internet designers to choose a packet-switched network as the basis for the Internet. What do you think, foresight or luck?

Answer: I believe it might be a little bit of both. Internet designers foresaw that we would have to send bigger message in the future so they tried to avoid putting a limit in messaging size that can be sent. According to the book "....they create this packet switched network. This is also luck. Sometimes things happen in my real life that makes me think about what could have happened if it gone differently. We can never predict what could have happened. This is why the choosing of the packet-switched system can be considered to be lucky. It's lucky that things turned out to be what it is right now.

2. What do you think the Internet would be like today if different companies’ network protocols were still competing for adoption for the Internet, instead of TCP being the
de facto standard?

Answer: If there was competition for adaptation of the internet, the internet wouldn't really be connected to one another. Different people would be using different protocol and this can lead to a very big problems. information might get lost or be dropped along the way or when it was being converted to one system to another. The internet is all about to connecting one another and it wouldn't workout as it is.
